Chip in to the pro-choice fighting fund

Abortion access rights are now a live issue in two Australian states. We need your help to win change, and prevent the anti-choice minority from hijacking public policy on this issue.

NSW has recently voted down a proposal to decriminalise abortion in the state. And anti-choice forces effectively scuppered a vote on similar legislation in Queensland earlier this year. Anti-choice forces are exerting their influence -- but this fight isn't over yet, and the majority of Australians support reproductive rights.

New votes are expected in both states in the near future. And before then, we need your help to make sure that the vast majority of people who support a person's right to make decisions about their own bodies don't continue to be failed by our parliamentarians.

Can you chip in to Fair Agenda's pro-choice fighting fund to help drive pro-choice campaigning on this issue ahead of the next votes?

The Queensland Government have just referred the decriminalisation of abortion to the Queensland Law Reform Commission, and made a public commitment to introduce legislation based on its recommendations. That means there will be another vote on this important issue expected next year. But nothing is guaranteed.

The only way to end the criminalisation of Queenslanders' healthcare decisions is with a majority of pro-choice MPs in the next Queensland parliament.

We know 82% of Queenslanders support a woman's right to choose abortion - now we need to make sure their MPs do to.

In NSW Labor MLC Penny Sharpe has plans to introduce legislation to introduce Safe Access Zones around abortion clinics in NSW to prevent the harassment of people entering the clinic.

There's also a risk that controversial MLC Fred Nile will also bring his proposed bill to vote -- one that legal experts have warned would operate as a Trojan Horse on abortion right in the state.

If the past few months have shown anything, it's how well resourced the anti-choice minority are on this issue. Can you help us amplify the voices of the pro-choice majority?
